Side French Braids

A somewhat simple and cute style.

Side French Braids

Knowledge & Supplies Needed:

• You will need to know how to do a French Braid (and be somewhat advance in French Braiding).
• Water/Hair Lotion
• Tall
• Pick
• A Fine Tooth Comb

Instructions:

1. Wet the hair completely.  I did this style in the morning so I simply wetted Havilah’s hair in the sink and then used the tall to dry it slightly.
2. Dry the hair with the tall so it is damp.
3. At this point run in any lotion or oil you may use.
4. In the front or the head– carefully  vertically part the hair (in the middle) about 2 inches.
5. Next horizontally part the hair over the head about 2 inches.
6. Starting on one side of the middle part: gather together a small section of hair and divide it into three sections as if you were going to do the basic braid.
7. Start as if you were going to French Braid down the side of the head, but instead of drawing hair from both sides…  draw hair only from the lower side of the head.  Here is a picture of the same kind of thing done on my hair to illustrate this better:
   

   The hair is only taken from the lower side (left in this case)—allowing the braid to sit up slightly.

8. Continue down the side of the head– stay close to the head.
9. Braid all the way to the end of the hair to finish.
10. Follow Insrutctions 6-9 to complete the other side.
11. With your pick– fluff up the rest of the hair.

And….  Congratulations!!  You’ve finished the hairstyle!!

Closing Thoughts~

I particularly liked this style a lot since it looks lovely, it’s something that can be done quickly (once you get the hang of it), you don’t have to have a ton of hair and I made it up!! 🙂
